Working on an Intake project

None at all smooth to the finger all the way around, these will work for now, at least until I can get it on a dyno and try different lengths out to see if it’s even worth using the extensions. These add 3.75” not counting the bell mouth flair part, so in theory will provide some mid range and flatten out the “left of peak torque” part of the curve.

Not ready for prime time, there is a leg leg interference issue lol.l, doesn’t bother me, but will bother most riders. Not putting anymore thought into it until dyno results are in at the end of the month. Missing three hose clamps to complete it tonight, which is why you see a small lip in first pic, it’s not seated fully down.

For posterity sake I measured the TB outermost edge to valve distance at 9.5”.

By some engine model software that’s ideal by other modeling software it says 15”.

30 March can’t come soon enough!!

First rides done with the new setup. Intake sounds much better than the old setup, throatier induction noise, but a bit quieter, both positives.

Initial data shows it definitely had an effect on flow, in particular at part throttle conditions from 2600-4000 RPM, its lean. Went from being solidly in the 13.x afr pretty much everywhere part throttle to, 13.x in some parts and 15.x in the mid range part throttle area, so it's had a meaningful effect on air flow. I feel like it gave a bump in 2400-3400 torque for sure, but who knows, butt dynos are pretty useless, it is running smoother however, and that's not a placebo, it certainly accelerates on the freeway smoother when rolling on in 5th at 2500rpm in a lazy pass scenario.

Totally impossible for me to tell how it effected top end power, all my brain can register in 2nd at full throttle is "OMG" lulz!

Could I ask a small favour? - A photo of the trumpets angled forwards (90°) and at about halfway (sort of 45° - ish) - It's academic interest. But related to knee clearance.

I’ll get one for you, but I have easy fix in mind to shift the whole assembly forward and not impede the leg at all.

I've finally figured out all the little things I was unhappy about. The outer cover I'm not totally convinced I'll use this one, it may be too tall, I still need to make a test version to verify position and ensure it will fit as I intend. This will not interfere with the left knee either. It's about 3 inches forward of where my current filter sits, which should yield about 1" of space between my knee fully tucked in and the back of the plenum.
