I am curious if this has happened to others, and what the issue is. I was turning a fairly tight corner on my GT and pretty much pegged the throttle just after the apex which caused my rear tire to lose traction. TC was on but for some reason it did slip (maybe an oil patch of a bit of sand?), but my biggest concern was that I got the dreaded death wobble! It only lasted for a few wobbles and it wasn’t terribly violent but it has never occurred before and I dont want it to occur again. Both tires are very close to hitting the wear bars, could that be a factor? Thoughts or ideas?
 
Was it a front or rear? I would bet it was a rear wobble from catching sand/oil slick causing the TC to spin momentarily or just the tires themselves spinning as your weight wasn't centered over the bike due to the lean in the turn. Usually a front wheel wobble is a tank slapper and it's violent. The rear 'usually' isn't violent and over quickly (like sex). The tires could have been the cause also if there are flat spots on them accompanied with little tread. Opinions based on wobbles that happened to me through out the years but just guessing as I wasn't there.
 
Sorry i should have made that clear. It was the front tire. But like I said it wasnt a tank slapped or terribly violent. Another possible factor is I was on a three day ride and had a fair load in the panniers and top box.
 
I would say the front wheel was almost off the ground and the tarmac was a little bumpy, this same thing happened to me some time ago and the front wheel wobble was unnerving but not violent. I put it down to a combination of tires, road surface and slightly slippy surface, haven't had it happen again.
 
This is a very possible scenario, in that all the variables you list could have been, and it was a bit of a bumpy road surface. Not terrible but for sure not new asphalt.
 
Not sure of your speed at the time, but mine has always had a high speed wobble, but at 120+ mph. I changed headstock bearings, tried removing the windshield, changed tires, all to no avail. Then I took the saddlebags off as an experiment in lightening, removed 106 lbs total in parts, wobble disappeared. IDK if it's aerodynamics, caused by bags, or the weight reduction, also wondering if you were carrying a lot of extra weight?

Edit: just noticed yours is a new model, so none of this may apply
