Rocket 3R 2022
Good afternoon! Dear colleagues, how does anyone store their rocket in winter? I'm talking about the wheels. Does anyone hang a motorcycle with a jack or stands so that the wheels don't touch the floor? Or how does the instruction recommend to put on the plaques? Please share your experience

If your concern is the tires, just keep them inflated properly and no worries. If on the other hand you're worried about the wheels going flat or the bearing grease getting crispy, there's little chance that will happening without a thermonuclear detonation going off near by......

if garage/parking space is not heated then I would just put a rubber pad or foamular below both tires and take the battery inside the house

I will be taking my battery indoors when it finally goes into hibernation. When I bought the bike it was delivered with a low battery and the morning after delivery it wouldn't start. On Friday when I went to start it in preparation to riding it to the dealership yesterday for its annual service, the battery was low again and it wouldn't start. I had taken it for a 150 mile ride only two weekends before so I assumed the battery would be fine.

I put the battery on charge at home overnight and it started fine in the morning. The dealership checked both battery health and the charging system and could find nothing wrong with either. Charging was fine and the battery was holding full voltage. They said that these big engines need a battery on maximum charge to spin them over reliably. Let it drop even a little and they can struggle. My KTM can stand for a month and the battery will still start it. These Rockets won't put up with that it would seem and too many failed starts is only going to weaken the battery further. So in future, during the riding season I'm going to make sure the bike is ridden or the battery charged on a weekly basis and over winter the battery's coming indoors and going on an Optimiser.

yes, the battery is lower capacity on this bike and needs frequent replacement because of drawing power for starter just right at the limit of battery, some have installed lithium ion batteries on their rocket but i do not trust Lion

Just look at the size of a full size car battery vs the ones in our Rockets. Then compare the engine sizes those batterys have to start. Our Rockets have half the CCA capacity starting an engine at least 1/3 larger (at least in the mid size suvs)????? This forces us to ensure the battery is charged. I keep a smart trickle charger on mine most of the time it's parked.

That's not fair. An SUV plus 10x the amps in normal operation than our rockets ... At least a non tricked out rocket! Compression ratio, AC, and what not..... Sure make a difference.

One of the issues riding a motorcycle is that most of us don't ride at or below freezing... Helps negate the need for big battery power...
