Well it's a new idea to me anyways, maybe its been explored already or maybe I'm just to thick. Anyways, the idea of a very large windshield on the Roadster, well let's just say doesn't sit well with me. I like the looks of the Windvest screen and the lip is cool. So I'm expecting wind turbulance of some level. But, from what I've read here alot, is that even with the larger shields, buffeting is still an issue UNTIL lowers are installed. Those I think I can live with. I'm wondering if using the lowers with the Windvest would be a working combination, or am I not even close. The Windvest that is recommened for me is 16 inches high, that 2-3 inches above the stock mirrors, and 16 inches wide. I'm 6-2'' and 220lbs, wear a 42 jacket. So I'm not really wide, but somewhat tall.

Like to hear your thoughts, most of you aren't too shy:eek:

thanks

Just FYI -
You know, I feel this "turbulence" is NOT a "normal" thing.
I have standard large size on both my R3R and V2K (135K miles).
NEVER have I had any stabilization issues and I cruise around 85 mph.
I have also spent many times and minutes at the ton to 135 mph or so.

Any windshield on any bike looks like s**t:D

You must be a commuter, Amigo, to prefer looks over function.
I agree the look sux and the same for panniers.
BUT, for my long trips around the country and the daily mileage I need to accomplish, requires a wind-break for my old-ass!
Besides, the bags and shield are easily removed in a minute.

+1
I fitted lowers and they keep rainwater off my knees !
Oh and my trousers "flap" less. But head/helmet turbulence - no perceptible difference.
What made the biggest change up top was a change of helmet.

When I fitted panniers INITIALLY - they waggled/vibrated at speed - the bike followed.
After remaking some SOLID pannier frames - all that indicates excessive speed is the fuel consumption.
Panniers/ big screens generate a shed load of drag.

I have both.
The small screens offer surprising relief for their size - But NOT for Loong sustained highish speed runs (IMO).
And no use at all if it's close to freezing.

Agreed but not when your behind it, in the pouring rain and snow, in freezing weather, with many hours before you get home, then it looks pretty **** good.

I am what you would call a weekend warrior I only polish my bike before I ride it:eek: and the only time I ride my bikes is when I am putting one of my twenty thousand miles a year on them.
Have never liked windshields now I do own two plus I have that little fly screen thing on my Roadster

I wish I could find the pictures I had of a screen for a Suzuki M102 (iirc) fitted to an R3. My mate Jim in the US had one fitted - but he no longer has his R3. It looked better than the slab.

Found pic
