Why are TuneECU maps country specific?

I suppose my reluctance to start copying files from one map to another is simply about making mistakes. Mapping is not as much of a black art as it used to be and nowadays just about every biker that wants to get the most performance out of his steed has probably at least considered it, but with my sausage fingers on my Android phone it is far too easy to copy & paste the wrong parts of a table, or simply select the wrong file etc. If a US map is likely to work in my UK bike I think I will give it a try so wish me luck.

Edit on PC, copy and paste the whole table at once. Email to yourself and load it from your phone.
I would love to do that but apparently TuneECU and Windows 11 don't get along too well - if I try to open a map file I just get an error message saying that the file is corrupt - Android likes it though

Windows 11 can run a virtual machine for any Operating system, fairly easy to setup and works as it should.

Sounds like a plan - I will have a try setting up something - never tried it before though

As I mentioned before, TuneECU does not like Windows 11 very much so my only option is to install it on a virtual machine inside Win 11 .... which brings its own heap of problems I am reasonably computer savvy so installing the Android shell is straightforward enough but as TuneECU is not available on the Amazon store I need to sideload it which requires ADB and Fastboot to be installed ........ but ADB refuses to play nicely for me and I am back at square one.

Update: I found a bug in Win11 which prevented adb from installing but I managed to get around that and successfully install TuneECU in the Android shell - hoorah! .... well sort of. I can now load the standard maps published on the website, but I cannot seem to access any other sources (my hard drive for example) so editing, saving, copying, emailing is not possible
Ah well, when one door opens, another one closes

because android shell does not work that way.
