Your weight is also a major factor. Triumph seats use foam that is way too soft to support my 300 lbs. After 50 miles I was sitting on the pan with no foam cushion. I tried a Rick Mayer conversion (similar to the Russell but without the springs) but it too proved to be too soft.
Now I have the Corbin Dual Tour and it has worked out very well for me. Yeah, it's as hard as a brick but it supports my weight well and takes the pressure off of my tailbone. It's also a pain to adjust and remove but that's part of the deal. Bobby K posted a nice trick to make the seat quick release.
The variety of posts in your thread point out the problem with asking about seats. You'll never get a group to agree on something so subjective.
Just as Hans hates hard seats, that's the only kind I find comfortable. I found both Triumph seats way too soft. Some like Sargent, I've had a couple and didn't like them.
If you don't already have a preference, and it appears you don't, a custom made seat, with a good guarantee is your best bet. Just make sure your wallet is full before you start shopping.
I would like to better understand the problems with searches.
Regarding the seat discussion, I tend to go for firmer seats but the is dependent on the rider. What may be comfortable to one may limit blood flow or pressure sensitive nerves for another.
Okay. Seeing as how you came into a bit of money, if you will just send it to me I will tell you what seat you should use! I don't charge much for advice. Check out Sargent seats also.
[I would love this option but have no plan on a ride to Oregon in the near future. I ride that far from Pa. would put my butt in a hospital long before I ever got there.QUOTE=TRIIICK;170591]I don't know where your from but if you want the best bang for the buck and live close to this guy he's your man.. I live on the east coast and i've seen his work ,im still waiting to come into a little money..

I was considering the long haul seat. Although my stock seat was not that bad going x-country this year. I also have the rivco risers so moving further forward may not be good. One thing I would hate to do would be rto make a major purchase and not be satisfied with it. Do not believe I would like a hard seat.
To bad my dealor does not have a "test" long haul seat
I am pretty sure it is my Motorola Droid tablet that is the issue. I have tried a couple different browsers and still have rhe same issue, as soon as I put the cursor on the search box and the keyboard pops up, the search featur disappears.
I also have an issue uploadin photos with the tablet. I was able to do it with my laptop. Easier ro check email, etc. with my tablet as I live in the country and have to link my cell phone to my laptop. Just a time and convenience issue
I just picked up my new longhaul seat, it is now a two piece seat. From just a quick look at it tonight, the pilot seat is much deeper than the stock and the pillion seat is about 2-3" wider than the stock seat.
