which seat to use????

i have just come into a little bit of money and have decided to spend it on a new seat for my touring. I am thinking about either a corbin or russel day long. It seems that some people have had issues with how firm the corbin seat is. I don't particularly like the looks of the day long but I'm tired of throwing money at the problem in bits and pieces and always be unhappy. is there anyone out there who went with the Russel and were disapointed with the comfort factor. That leads to my second question. If I decided to pull the trigger should I use the original one piece seat that came on the bike or should I use the two piece longhaul version that I just purchased for my recent 2500 mile trip. i was greatly dissapointed with the results. I went from being uncomfortable at about 70 miles into a trip to being sore at about 100 miles instead. Will the Russel day long keep me smiling all day long as I am riding and only bother me when I look at it.

I've never heard a complaint about the comfort of the Russell. I have a Corbin and like it, but its my third Corbin, I like hard seats. Hard to know what suits you. The Russell will be custom made for you and you're more likely to get a good result.

As to which seat pan to use, are you going to get front and rear rebuilt, or just the front? That probably will be the deciding factor.

As to the look, well you can't see it when you're sitting on it. The rest of the time, well the Rocket won't win many beauty contests as is, so if it were me, I'd go for comfort over aesthetics. Besides, the R3T is one of the few bikes that can take the oversized look of the Russell in stride. It looks out of place on a lot of smaller bikes, not a problem with the R3T.

Thanks for your imput. I was thinking that since Russel is going to mod the seat specifically for me, that I could use the original seat pan which basically is not really resalable and then sell my much newer long haul to help with the cost.

I can tell you that my longhaul seat is OK on my recently purchased 2012 Touring but the Russell seat I had on my BMW was by far the most comfortable seat I've ever had. It won't take me long to send my longhaul seat to Russell for conversion. The Russell site has some photos of their seat on Rockets so you can get an ideal what to expect.

Thanks for your kindness. My searches gave me no insight on the main question I had as to which pan set up, I have, would be best with the Russel Seat. therefore i posed the new Question. As to the longhaul. It is much firmer than the stock seat and moved me much further forwared which I didn't mind but I had already added the rivco risers so moving forward wasn't necessary. As far as comfort perhaps because I am so overweight I only got a little bit of improvment over the stock seat. On any kind of long distance my butt was aching pretty bad.

I don't know where your from but if you want the best bang for the buck and live close to this guy he's your man.. I live on the east coast and i've seen his work ,im still waiting to come into a little money..

Hello.

I had the Longhaul Touring Seat and bought a Corbin which costed quit a Bit of Money.
If I had know on Forehand the Differences I would not have bought the Corbin:
To Hard and the Backrest is not half as Good and easy to change as the Triumph One.

Also The other Half, who owns 50% of the Rocket.......asked why I changed the Seat because this one ( the Corbin) is much harder.
If you want to reajust the Backrest you need a piece of Tool to srew or unsrew the Angle. It also moves to all sides when and does not give a good Feeling althgough it does not come off probably.
So make sure that you are able to do a kind of Test on whatever Make you are going to buy because you can only spend your Money once.
