I was looking over my 2021 R3 GT and admiring the quality of its assembly and overall quality. I decided to research the VIN # and found it was assembled in Thailand!!
I think many of us are suspect about the quality of products made in Asian countries but my R3 flies in the face of that concept!
In the VIN# 11th digit spot look for a T for Thailand or a J for Janney Rd Hinkley England. Of course my old 2006 Rocket III is J made in England. But, these bikes tins were made in Thailand. Great quality parts. My 2022 Tiger GTL has T for Thailand. And most of the Modern Classics will have a T as well. All made well and are top quality bikes.
I have no problem at all with Thai-built bikes. They're civilised advanced country and there's nothing wrong with their engineering. Triumph, Harley, BMW and Ducati have been manufacturing on Thailand for years.
I'm less keen in the current Chinese manufactured KTMs. I wouldn't buy one as I don't want to support the Chinese state. Beijing is the enemy of the free world. Thailand is part of the fee world.
