Shawn has a gargantuan challenge keeping the site accessible to mere mortals, while restricting access to would-be evil doers. He offers many external resources on the site, and for all of those, must take into account the probability that they will introduce nefarious code (similar perhaps to us telling our daughters, "If you sleep with a guy, you're sleeping with everyone with whom he has slept").
For the time being, he could not make that determination to his high standards with the map server and it is on his to-do list.
