2014 R3 Roadster "Prudence"

Sorry if already discussed. But this is what is rumored to replace the production line for the venerable K1300 IL-4 BMW. I've ridden the current K1600 IL-6 tourer. It's 800+ pounds, smooth as silk, goes like stink, and handles to boot. Not the brick through a plate glass window power and torque of our R3Rs; but I can imagine what a "tuning" could do. The often maligned/misunderstood alternative "Duo-lever" front suspension is a perfect application for bikes of such weight and riding environments/demands. IMO it slams Honda's F6B or new generation Valkyrie.

I'm embarrassed just looking at it. Can only imagine what a right idiot you'd feel if you were actually seen riding one. I think it even tops those Hondas and the Victory Vision for stupid looks. What are they thinking?

Man, I must be just in one very cranky/specific phase because I am not diggin that thing at all and I'm a beemer guy from way back (last ride was a 1994 K1100LT). I just don't like its' lines, and I agree with Canberra, it's about as ugly as the Vision.

It's not bad for a touring bike. Watched the concept video on. I'll never ride one because I don't particularly care for tourers (no matter what the brand), they're just not me. 2 things you can be sure of though with the Beemer, it won't come cheap, but the ride will be excellent.

A friend of mine let me borrow his GTL-1600 for a weekend, there's a bike i wouldn't mind putting in the stall. My grandfather used to say to me" those that follow the crowd will never leed one".

That thing looks to radical for the Conservative BMW crowd.

If I was Honda, I'd file a patent infringement against BMW.

The gtl is a great 2 up touring once you upgrade the stock screen and I picked it over the trophy, but it's not a R3. And I really don't see much market for the 1600 concept bike, there's no chrome to polish!

I find it kind of amusing how the Rocket folks argue performance over aesthetics every time Harleys are brought up. Yet when German bikes are mentioned, suddenly its aesthetics over engineering. I don't recall Rockets winning any beauty contests.

Having owned five BMW motorcycles, a 3 series, a Mini, a VW GTI, and a Golf R, I'm kind of fond of German engineering. They do occasionally slip up on execution but I've never had a problem with any of mine. If the rumored BMW fits someone's riding style, I doubt there will be a better made machine for the purpose.
