What’s the last thing you bought for your rocket…

Thunder Box
Works great, easy to hook up and eliminates the stack of connections I had on the battery terminals. Innovv cams, Corbin heated seat and First Gear heated clothing. That First Gear stuff is a game-changer, rode this weekend in 38° temps and 1/2 way up on the controller was very toasty.

I have the heated shirt, pants & socks. I ordered the gloves yesterday because even with my heated grips and Goretex Outland gloves the back of my hands got cold. Warm and Safe makes the First Gear stuff and they are running a sale on their non-phone-touch gloves. $99 instead of $168 for the touch ones. I usually pull over anyway to mess with my phone so no biggie to pull a glove off.

My new R111, is getting some bits for me and T’Wife. For me a set of hand guards and a Dave Platt system, for her a set of passenger foot boards and the touring seat has been widened and repacked. I’ve also brought a wider pillion back rest, as ‘er indoors has scoliosis of the spine and these mods help her riding on the back longer.
But the big thing I’m doing for the bike, is a deep clean. Most of the plastic chrome parts have a rough film over them, the fuel gauge and clock clips that mount them on the bars, the chrome has peeled off them, so those will be painted. One large bit that needs to be sorted is the “summer” screen, needs a major polish as it’s dull as bloody dull politician! So I’ll be getting one of those headlight restoration kits for the screen.
Finally all the paint will get, after a ‘T’cut a Teflon Polish coat.

An up date of my “deep clean” of my new R111 Classic purchase, stripped the front brakes right down and fitted new stainless pistons, as five out of eight pistons were badly pitted. New pads as a matter of course.
I’ve discovered that it doesn’t have standard bars fitted, the front brake pipe was really tight, no flex at all and the clutch cable was routed wrong with a really tight bend in it. As I tried to get it right, ie coming up between the top tree and head lights, it’s around an inch short of the lever mount! I wondered why the clutch was a bit heavy. Another set of bars will need sourcing, I don’t like how tight the control cables are!
Dave Plate System now fitted, I’ll give it a year before looking at more engine tuning.
I’ll be trying to get a set of used Hagon shocks and I will change the fork oil (it’s nearly 15 years old) and use a slightly heavier grade in as I like a firmer ride.
