Was thinking of a hook to hang my helmet (a possible solution)

So, I have a GT, it has a really nice backrest to use to hang a helmet. But, I am putting a small trunk behind, kinda evicting my helmet. Or, think of R version.

It is kind of convenient to take off a helmet and in immediate reach to hang it somewhere in arms reach. The hook needs to be in a way, as not to add damage in case of a crash.

Sadly, many hooks are available that I like which not work on such thick handlebars. One additional way to go, is to reuse a mounting bolt to the front brake reservoir.

But, I was thinking about the very wide handlebars. Specifically the right hand side, as I often use it after locking the handlebars and hanging a helmet on that side is perfect, as it gives enough space.

So, here is my IMPERFECT solution at this point. I can make it more tidy but I used a hose clamp for now, just to feel it out.

Thoughts? Seems convenient.

I didn't want to put a helmet on a mirror because the mirror is shallow and a helmet may fall, I also don't like to readjust my mirrors, so it is just generally not my preferred method.

I put mine on the passenger back rest also. I carry a cable lock if I have to leave it for a few.

I did have Lidlox earlier and just received one for my Rocket. Easiest solution that I have ever used.

I'm not a fan of leaving my crash helmet with the bike for a number of reasons:

- It can get rained into (or receive bird droppings or similar into it)
- Someone could damage it (the visor could get scuffed quite easily)
- The risk of theft (Helmets aren't cheap items these days) though a helmet lock reduces that risk.
- Direct sun exposure degrades the helmet so unnecessary prolonged exposure to heat & UV is preferable.

But, I can see the reason why folks want to do it.......It's a PITA to carry it around, of course!

Now you got me thinking.....

- It would be best if the helmet was stored the right way up (thinking rain, and general sh!t)
-Stored more centrally on the bike (thinking better protection from idiots)

I'm thinking it would be desirable to place and secure the helmet in some way over the top of the TFT display. That might kill two birds with one stone and help keep the sun off the TFT screen while keeping the helmet away from idiots walking past.
