Valve Shim Tool

Does anyone know of a tool to change the valve shims? I have heard of this and wonder what they look like. And if it is available for the Rocket.

Hi Wayne,

Of course you are right. I just like to "do it myself". Maybe we could get a pool of shims between the group and swap them out as required.

Are the shims used on any other models?

That is good to know. I got the same thought from the manual. However, can there be a tool that will depress the valve and allow the removal of the shim(s)? The one and only Rocket that I did the valve inspection did not need any changes.

I just got mine done last week,Only done 10,000ks and there was nearly no clearance on one

Did you record the measurements? Be interesting to see any trend. Did you change a shim? How difficult?

Not sure if there is enough room to attempt using any kind of tool. I'm about to find out. With little over 9,000 on the clock, i'll be due for a lookee!

Hint - completely remove the fuel tank. It's easy. No fuel will run out.

My dealer said that they use a honda tool. Imagine that. Well guess those japanese importers are good for something. lol
