Valk vs R3 ?

Reliability?

I never think twice when leaving for a ride. Like many other R3 owners I've taken 3,000 mile rides without as much as a flutter. I run my bikes to their limits and have never had a problem. I think most manufacturers have resolved most breakdown issues. My brother inlaw just traded a Harley he put over 75,000 miles on without any problems; to me that's simply amazing. He owned a Valk Interstate before the Classic Harley. I believe you'll never look back if you go for an R3 or any other Triumph. It's a totally different experience. It may be the 3 cylinder thing; whatever it is I like it.

We sold a '99 Valk standard to get the Beast. Both are very interesting motorcycles. Honda reliability is legendary; and ours was no exception through 46K miles. So far (a bit over 5K miles) the Beast has been equally reliable. We hope it is so long term, but shall have to wait and see.

We consider the Beast a bit more "raw" than the Valk with her smooooooth flat six motor. The Beast is measurably more powerful, breaks better, and (for us, at least) a bit lighter on its feet. We are more confident in turns and feel good riding the Beast harder than we ever did the Valk. We cannot explain precisely why this is, but it is very real to us.

We are very happy with the Beast, but we will not forget the Valk anytime soon.

We trudge on.
 
I bought mine used with almost 10,000 miles on her. Picket her up Southwest of San Antonio and road 35 miles past St. Louis a little over 1100 miles. No worries she'll go anywhere.
 
50,500 miles on my beastie I have broken **** on her key words is I have broken **** not the bike over 22,000 miles on the blower and I must admit nothing ever broke till I put the blower on her. Still I went on a 3500 mile ride to include the tailt of the dragon, and Atco NHRA grudge Drag racing in Philly Pa. I will buy an 09 but not give up the 06 I just want another one before Triumph changes it more then the Slow Roaster or theeven slower touring model.
All and all a fine piece of machinery IMO

Lots of good info...right to the point and exactly what I was looking for. Of course there's alway the possibility of any bike, anywhere ,having problems but I was looking for consensus. I truely appreciate the everyone taking time to answer. Guess I better start beating the bushes for a bike.

Just turned 20,000 on my 05 with only a clutch switch malfunction, other than that, pure hapiness
 
Mine, while turning 6 calendar years is yet a baby with 7000 miles. I did meet a nice couple from Missouri this summer at my favorite micro-brew barbecue joint with 200, 000 trouble free miles on their 2000 valk. I want one of those too.
