TuneECU, ECU on Roadster is not responding anymore

the one I have done is for TORS based on 20355 tune.

I can easily change the 20352 to have these settings, since it really is just about copying tables and alter to 100%. no science involved!

give me an hour and I post it.

Please see post at

Tom Hamburg - I noticed that the first tune I made is on your website. Might be of interest to replace or add the 20355 tune that takes care of ifnition retardation as well, since the GIPro imitation is what most people are interested in.

on second thought, post both tunes. ignition is something else. open secs is an old well known trick.

I uploaded this tune ... I'll try it out today. I did the upload on the Vista 32-bit system using 1.6.6 (if you recall my crazy events earlier this week, the successful upload was done by XP using 1.6.4).
So 1.6.6 and Vista 32-bit seem ok w/ the Roadster. Interestingly when I tried w/ only the 20A fuse out ... I couldn't get any progress. Put it back in ... proper upload. This is odd, Leif, as it is contrary to what your R3R did.

My First TuneECU Experience

I have been anxiously watching this thread while I waited on my cable from China.
I will relay my experience:
Bike:
I have a R3 Roadster and I am in the DFW area, I have had the bike for about a month. Only change was the addition of the TORS.
Computer:
I received the cable today, downloaded and installed TuneECU v1.6.6 on my Toshiba laptop. The laptop is about 1.5 years old and I installed Windows 7 Pro 32 bit when it came out. The laptop always has the latest updates, including the latest Avast anti-virus updates.
The ECU cable install went a little different than I was expecting. Windows 7 reconized and installed the drivers without requiring an outside update, as a matter of fact when I tried to install the files that are referenced from Tom’s website, I received the message that I already had the “best” drivers. So as far as cable driver and TuneECU install, so far so good.
Connection to Bike:
Removed 20amp headlamp fuse, connected battery tender and ECU cable to laptop, powered bike and started TuneECU, a few seconds go by notice flashing light in lower right corner of program window, it seemed to change from red to orange and then to green, all while flashing. Side note, the red LED that is part of the cable where plugs into bike, was always on and never flashed or turned off until I disconnected from computer.
I then proceeded to download the installed map, this took about 20 minutes, the light at lower right of program always flashed and the progress bar at bottom constantly progressed left to right. Interesting note, map installed was 20352, which I believe is for standard exhaust; mine had the TOR’s installed by the dealer and paperwork indicated a remap was performed.
I then proceed to upload the map “20355map-2 that Leif so graciously provided, thanks Leif. The upload took about three minutes. I reset the TPS and then shut the bike off.
First Start:
I tried to start the bike but was unsuccessful, it powered up ok but only clicked, then remembering some of the issues other users reported, proceeded to remove a 5amp fuse next to the 20amp, then reinstalled both fuses and bike started with no issue, the TPS proceeded to set itself and when the fan came on I proceeded with the 12 minute tune.
Unfortunately it started to pour down rain while I was doing all this so I have not road tested, cannot wait, but revving the throttle everything sounded fine.
In closing, it went pretty easy; maybe I was lucky, I guess the test ride will tell the tale. I appreciate all the information posted here and as I learn more from my trial and errors I will share without being redundant.
I do have a couple of closing questions, my fuel gauge reset to full (it was down to 28 miles to empty before reprogramming ECU), will this change to the actual fuel load after I ride for a few miles?
Also, is there a trick to selecting the boxes in the test mode, tried while bike was on, off and running all the same result.
I hope this long post may help someone compare with their experience.
Regards,
Chris

Chris ...
Glad it went pretty well ... the info in these forums can definitely help.
Regarding fuel, yes that should set itself after driving a bit. I say should because each time I've done this, mine resets to empty and adjusts before I get 1/2 mile.
I didn't do much myself in test or diag mode. With the bike running, all gauges in TuneECU were responding, etc, but nothing really looked 'clickable' either.

!! Note: !!

With anti-fours software of any kind, it always comes back to problems.

If you TuneECU used on the bike, then please uninstall the previous anti-fours software.

Turn off the scanner fours is not enough, he needs to be uninstalled.

Drivers Installation:
The drivers install only when the computer is disconnected from the Internet.
This will ensure that only the recommended driver to install.

BR, Tom

Thanks!

I had the same issue today. Just got the bike back from a 500 mile service this week. I 'read' (saved) the ecu before sending it in and then 'read' again afterwards, so that I could compare the 2 and see if they changed anything. This worked fine for me with the headlight fuse out. (20 or 25A ?).
Then I decided to lift the speed restriction - mine was set to 194kph - decided to set it up to 240kph (121mph to 150mph), So I started the 'download' (to ECU) process - and it failed, then it would not connect for hours - when I displayed the log, I would see it trying to connect, authorizing, then trying to connect again - never did connect, but did drain the battery a lot.
After reading your post I reconnected the headlight fuse (and a Battery Tender), and it connected, ran the recovery etc first time, after which I uploaded the changed speed limit.
I then ran the 'reset TPS' option - turned off/on, started and let it run at idle until the green TPS indicator came on. She is now resting and getting a battery charge overnight.

So, Basically, my roadster also needs the headlights connected when downloading TO the ECU, but did not need it when reading FROM the ECU.
I decided to leave the secondaries alone for a little while - still getting used to the 'muted' power, and the bike is still brand new!

Thanks again for your post about the headlights - would've had a hard time figuring out what to do otherwise. Utah ? R U LDS ?

Also a big Thanks to Alain - just saved me $75 - I changed the exhaust on my '03 Tiger from the stock to the TOR, and was able to download the TOR tune for it - free!!

No problem, I'm glad the info helped out ... I had quite the time myself. Bike was 'down' for about 36 arduous hours. I am LDS, yes.
