Got a gift card for the local Triumph dealer and spent it on a new set of Triumph Oval Mirrors. Rushed home to remove the originals and install the new ones.

Should have been a 5 minute job.....

1. There's a hex-head screw on the underside of the housing that holds the mirrors in. Having suffered a separated shoulder less than a week ago (snow boarding), I had a hell of a time breaking them loose.

2. The hex head screws are clearly made from CRAP!!!! I snapped the head off not one but both of them. Dam it!

3. Took a trip down to my trusty Ace Hardware and bought (for a total of $3.00 the new screws and washers.

4. Installing the new mirrors requires that the stem be drawn in by use of the new screws from underneath. Again, having the separated shoulder, my arm strength wasn't enough. Break out the power-driver. (POWER-TOOLS-Argh argh argh!!!)

Okay so after my 5 minute job that turned out to be an hour including the trip to Ace, I now have my fancy new mirrors installed. Time to take a ride.

- Next to zero vibration at 80 MHP.
- Excellent lateral view particularly on my blind side.
- They look great!!!

All told--- I like them a lot!

Okay... I'm done now.

Nice looking mirrors. I've got the same cup holder. It is the best 10 bucks I ever spent.

So how do you get pics from your phone to your computer? I still have some from the 2007 Las Vegas Bikefest. Do you have to send them?

Nice. I got the VTX mirrors not to long ago, man what a difference.

Where'd you get the cup holder?

At least you've got an excuse for things going wrong in the workshop.

Spare a thought for those that are just inept.

Those can be purchased at most motorcycle apparel places for $10-12. I think I actually paid $10.95 in Florida. It really is a nice little accessory. I used it to carry a thermal cup full of water on my ride across the U.S. It is fully adjustable. Inexpensive and functional. You can see a bit of it in this picture taken at the Little Big Horn River in South Dakota.
