The new Rocket 3 touring that I will be getting soon has an awfully tall windsheild.
I think this is the stock windsheild for new rockets?
Will I want to stay with that?
Is there something a little shorter?
I saw this and it looks cool in the picture but does anyone actually have one and do you like it? Link RemovedTriumph Rocket III Quick Release Boulevard Peak

So what's wrong with just sitting on the Touring, with the windshield on it,
looking at where you want it to come, and having your wife,
or somebody mark on it with a marker where you want it cut,
then cutting it down some?
That's cheap, easy, and it's more personal that way.
But what do I know, my bike has two headlights (for now)

When I got my Classic it came with a tall windshield and I disliked it enough to have the dealer take it off before I left with it. I shopped around for something smaller until it occured to me to cut down the one I had. Rather than doing it myself, I took it to a local glass shop and had them cut 9" off the top, then they used what they cut off as a template to shape the top of the shorter version. It worked like a charm and looks good (as good as a windshield can look, anyway), diverts the wind over me and I can look over it instead of through it. I feel like it handles better too without as much weight up on top and less surface area to catch the wind. The shop charged me an hours' labor which was around $70 as I recall.

Too tall is an easy fix. Cut it down yourself. That's as easy as it gets. I'm an Accountant. If I can do it, anyone can.

windsheild

Ok, I think I will end up cutting it down, but I want it to look professional with smooth edges and evenly shaped.
Whats the best tool to cut it with? a jigsaw with a fine tooth blade?and then sand the edges?

I've got it Macrider. It doesn't actually serve any useful purpose wind wise(especially when you're 6'7"), but it does look better than leaving the headlight area naked (butt ugly)

That little thing would barely keep the bugs off the speedo and tach ... why bother?
I can see the use though, it does give the mounts something to do when the big one is taken off. Otherwise you would have those mounts just stuck there with no purpose.

I opted for CeeBailieys extra tall aircraft windshield material and love it. I look through it rather than over it and the optics are great. I'll be sending them a set of strut deflectors with the turn signal holes to have them cut me a set without holes when I can start spending money again ... If I can start spending money again.

Windshield

Clearview has one that is shorter and a bit wider if you prefer more of an eyeline type. The 2009 R3T is shorter stock, which is what I have and prefer. In inclement weather; rain etc. I like to be able to look over the shield. Theirs will fit the stock SS brackets and you can probably market yous to a taller rider on this site. Marty
