Triumph Bobber Has Arrived

...with you on this. I've had several of my riding buddies who are longtime H-D riders (I've owned 'em, too) to tell me they really liked the Bobber - one actually sent me the ad (though I'd already seen it). I do think Trumpet needs to kick up their advertising in the US quite a few notches to appeal to older (not "old", but older than this group they're targeting and should KEEP targeting, to appeal to all age segments) more hardcore male cruising riders. And maybe start tweaking the R3R's and R3T's to begin grabbing some of the "I'm a badass hardcore biker who rides even BIGGER badass bikes than H-D's!", etc., even if not stated in that fashion. I think Trumpet has a real "sleeper" (whether they ever figure it out or not) in this basis from which to increase their market share if they'll do these and other things... after all, TRIUMPHS WERE A VERY SIGNIFICANT PART OF THE EARLIEST AMERICAN RENEGADE "BADBOY" and MC scene, though they've let folks forget all that (I rode in that scene, late '60's, and "Trumpets" and "Beesers" (BSA) were still seen in the mix, and not berated at all). The big market for H-D is still basically "men who want to identify with masculinity" through emotional association with independents, renegades and clubbers - iconic images of men's men - whether we admit it or not. Not a "right or wrong" issue here... it's all subjective. But personally, I'll take the "man's man" image over some pansified nouveau girlie-man image any day. We're American Men, for god's sake - act and look like it. Triumph, grow a pair and hire some serious marketing talent to sell these machines (Bobbers, R3's, etc.) and ditch some of the dumb Nancy-boy images and music you're mistakenly thinking is "cool". By American Men's standards, it's pansified.

The Guzzi looks like a blacked out standard motorcycle with a "bobber" label!

My thoughts, exactly. I've owned a classic Guzzi years ago and loved it, but this one shown is a lame (and probably short-lived) attempt at garnering up a few mkt segment sales.

F4U... now here is one sweet machine would love to take one up for a ride on a clear day
