Bike theft is a huge issue here ATM. The law won't allow the police to chase scumbags on mopeds if they're not wearing helmets !!!!!!! This obviously means that bike thieves uniform of choice is now Nike tracksuit and trainers and a balaclava. The police are afraid to chase because if there's an accident the individual cop can be sued by the ' victim ' or their family - absolute lunacy
Trackers are great, but only useful to recover the damaged/burnt bike. I have both my bikes locked in a secure garage, cctv, sensor lights, chains, big gated drive, angry dog and passed off mrs if woken, but the ****ers will always try their luck. Modern bikes and cars with keyless systems make themselves easy targets, so faraday bag is essential, its all about deter and discourage the attempt rather than recover a ruined garden ornament
Well, that depends. Sometimes thieves drop off bikes elsewhere to see if they get recovered because of some internal tracker. If not, they reacquire them to do what they do with them..
I recommend this lock for quick on-off when larger chain is not available.
It is really beefy. Also, offers sound on or off protection. There would be a significant effort involved, at least dramatically will help with any simple roll-away scenario.
My bike nightly has 2 huge separate chains to the ground anchor through a rear wheel, an additional U-lock lock on the rear, and 3 disk locks on the front wheel, and a through U lock on the front, connected by security cable to another bike. My hope is that some thieves would look at all that and just decide to go with my neighbor's bike. It is all I ask for.
As the victim of having my trailer stolen from a 'secure' facility with 32 cameras, coded gates, barb wire, etc. I now have a tracker on my replacement trailer. It's cheaper than buying new trailers because the insurance wouldn't cover the loss. My new trailer has it's own theft policy.
