So I am considering what type of storage I want to put on my new Roadster. My first pass was to either get Corbin Beetle Bags or Hepco Becker lockable hard side leather bags. Both are well north of $1,000 options.

Then I started thinking about how much I use the Tour Pac on my Harley.

I am wondering whether it would be better to fit just a large top case instead of saddlebags. Something in the 55L size.

Since I only ride solo, I want to make a mount to put it right behind the riders seat and maybe get one I can put a backpad on for a back rest for myself.

Seems like this with a rack on top for a roll bag would be a better option and provide almost as much storage. I am even considering just putting my Harley Tour Pack back there, but it is really square.

Thoughts?

I've also thought of this same thing instead of saddlebags. Will be very interested on what people have done for this as I'm no bracket fabricator.

I got a cheap box on ebay and fitted the mounting clamp to my luggage rack with the sissybar removed, it looks like this.

Now if I can just figure out how to move that forward so it mounts behind the riders seat....

You may also want to consider Leatherlykes. You can get matching bags and topcase. I've had my saddlebags for about 5 years now and they work great. I carry my laptop to/from work everyday in them. On/Off is less than a minute.

For f***s sake Doug that case maybe does the job but it looks hideous:eek: if you ever drive through Glenrothes I will knock it off and win a coconut just like at the shows.:D
I hate bags on any Rocket  I know at times we need them in fact I have the leatherlykes that I use once in a blue moon.

My preference: Tsukaya Coner (Leather covered) Hardbags.

Getting something that looks right on the Roadster and, preferably, isnt 2K (Corbin) is the real challenge.

I use my bike as a commuter quite a lot and the backpack works, but sucks - I hate riding with it on my back.

Was about sold on the Hepco Becker 35L Buffalo bags. However, I thought they were leather covered hard sided bags and they are not. They are leather and my experience with even heavy leather bags is that over time they sag (even well made German leather bags).

So, I am still considering options. The Leatherlyke bags I had for a very short time a long time ago and I did not like them. Yea, they work, but .....

Anyhow, the search continues.
