I am doing the 30k valve clearance adj. I found that the timing chain had stretched and the plunger was at 22.5 mm. 6 valves needed new shims. I replaced the 6 shims, a new 170 link chain and the new style of cam chain tensioner blade. the bike is a 07 classic. I have not been able to dial in the timing between the cams and the crank. I have done everything by the book and still the crank seems to be about 10 to 15 degrees advanced compared to the cams after rotating the crank 4 revolutions per the manual. I bought a new cam tool to set the cams with. I did not think to see how the timing was set before I tore it apart. Has anyone had this type of problem.
