Thoughts on trailering

Trailer isn't a dirty word to me, though I don't have one. Yet.

I'd like to have an enclosed trailer that would haul three bikes. Mine, my wife, and my sons, that would be perfect. I can think of several trips I'd like to make with that set up. For one thing it would be cheaper to pull that and sit in the cab out of the rain for 300 miles of flat interstate concrete than it would to ride 'em all. When you get there the trip isn't ruined if it rains all freaking day ONE DAY out of three. Hail, storms, tornado what ever. Just roll up in to my own little garage until it's over and head to the pool or the hotel lounge.

Yeah, I'd do the trailer thing. Even by my self. Roll down to the Smokies and then see the whole thing on the bike coming back to my own base camp when ever I feel like it. None of that tent BS, just hang every thing on hooks like my own big private closet and put up the hammock.

Some of those trailers are made with a tilt bed for getting a lawn mower on and off it with it still hitched up.

Suppose it's too late for that option?

@mexican will be relieved to know that old blue rust bucket is now retired from international duty. I’ll be trailering to Maggie Valley next year with my new trailer. It has a 3500 lb dropped axle so plenty strong and easy one person loading. I’m going down a week early to a resort about an hour away and relaxing there before joining the hoolig......err...fellow riders. Two days of interstate each way, specially going through places like Cincinnati on a bike is no fun. And the good news is that old as I am getting Steve will always be a year older than me

Take the drop down hit of yours and turn it up side down to be a rise up. That lowers the back of the trailer and ur safely attached when you load the ramp with bike weight. Get a 2x4 to un hitch it and drop it back down.

I just bought this new 20 footer. It pulled like a dream behind the Cummins powered Dodge for 1300 miles out to NM with four fully dressed touring bikes. I just did not have the time nor desire to ride I40 for days.

I think I’ll just ride the Rocket to the RAA east in MV this year, it’s only 100 miles.

You wouldn't get that down most of our motorways let alone local roads

I've only trailered when moving. I've got a 28' enclosed that I can fit 3 bikes and a car. Other than that, If I can't take the bike... I don't ride. That said, as my wife and I plan for my retirement we've looked at 'RV Toy hauling' trailers that have a full living space up front and room for two bikes in the back. Check this out:
