Suggestion ok Blip .. ditch the tent/sleeping bag etc .. and buy yourself a swag .. and learn to play the harmonica or tin whistle
 
Here is a picture of me fully loaded, at the tail end of a four week trip, with exactly 100,000 miles on the clock, although not all from that trip.

IDK, love the 30 gallon drum, I have one of those, never thought of it.
