Sturgis 2015

The Roadway Inn I stayed at a xouple years ago was quiet and less than an hour from Sturgis. Devils Towere was cool. They booked up early though. Need to check it out tomorrow.
Rick, how expensive are the rooms? do you happen to have a number? city?

Since I've done it four times in recent years, I shall pipe up.
I'd figure at least two days, or more to ride all the really good roads in the area.
Spearfish Canyon - the Moonshine Gulch Saloon in Rochford - Newcastle to Custer to Lead to Deadwood.
Spearfish to Bell Fourche to Devil's Tower and Hulett, WY. (This SHOULD be done VERY early on Wednesday).
44 from Rapid City, 385 & 16 to Hill City. 244 to Keystone and then all the 16, 6A, 87, 244, 753 and 359.
Note the 16 section that runs south from 244 to 359 SHOULD be ridden from the south to north!

chris"s campground in spearfish has always done me good have little cabins imagine spoken for by now though plenty of open camping nicely located

Really like ta do that and meet some of you guys, but can only dream of it.

Ok... A couple of things...rides around Sturgis, including spearfish and needles highway will be congested. Last year there were 450,000 bikes there and this year there are supposed to be closer to 1,000,000. Second...Sturgis has become more about the party than the ride. If you can find a quiet campground anywhere within 100 miles I will be surprised. Third...and this is a freeby...if you expect to see women with no panties on "no panties Wednesday" in Hulett you better be prepared to stay well after dark...closer to morning...and you will probably want them to put something back on...a towel, a tent, something. I have no problem setting up a ride or meet and greet once we know who all will be there. It will have to be somewhere outside a campground though as last year a pass to get into ours was $100. It was good for 5 min or two weeks...your option. The broken spoke isn't bad since it's about 10 miles or so outside town and the only place I'm aware of that you can ride your bike through the bar. As a side note...you can also shoot fully automatic weapons at their range. They have a bike shop on site and a tattoo artist so you can get worked on while they are fitting your new tire. If you are expecting to go to Sturgis and have a quiet relaxing few days you are planning the wrong trip. It's a 24/7 party that lasts about 2 weeks and some people just happen to ride motorcycles. I took two women last year and had no problems, but i fully expect this year to be more out of hand than usual due to the fact that it is the 75th anniversary.

Springfield Armory, bed roll, back pack tent, ONE extra change of clothes and maybe rain gear. One bar of Lori's famous hand made " one soap does it all". Sleep under da stars next to my bike, hmmmmm

I think i will pass on this one, i will wait till after the party is over and head that way, can not imagine the chaos that 1 million bikes can cause!
