Stuck in third

Yes , thank you IDK I will start doing mine soon too.
Some questions for IDK or Prestaged I have to order my spring, do I also need to order water pump and engine cover gaskets?
Any other stuff I need to order? I want to make sure I have everything before I start.
Did you use gasket maker sealant instead of gaskets?

A little BUMP for the above questions...

If your just have to change the Detent spring you will need a clutch cover gasket which you can use some Permatex or Hylamar, Bit to be honest You can just oil the gasket both sides so it sticks to the cover and install. The water pump gasket is a scrawny O-ring Which should be ok.I have never replaced mine. I just use Hylamar because it does not dry hard and back up with it. the O-ring around the pump will be fine to lightly oil it before sticking the pump back in the engine. Same with the O-ring on the coolant return tube from the engine to the pump it has a O-ring on it the will be fine. just lube and install.
Now depending on the shape of the The clutch basket nut is you will probably need one. Only if the over staked it. Their not expensive.

So clutch cover gasket and clutch basket nut. everything else should be fine. I see you have a T so I am not sure but on my Standard and Classic I just covered the fender with a towel and left it and the wheel, and brakes on the bike saves about 45 minute of wrenching you just have to be careful when you pull the radiator. In fact I leave the water pump cover attach to the hose and the lower radiator. so when I pull the radiator it come with it. Most important is not to forget to plug the cooling fan back in when you putting the radiator back on.
Hope this helps

Thank you Warp, much appreciated info...Mac

I had a good look at the clutch adjustments and found this ! It is not the detent spring, the cable is frayed and partly pulled apart . i am surprised I did not catch this earlier. I have ordered a new cable and hoping it comes soon!

I know that look - it happened on my bike last week.
