Not speaking for Sonny (no one speaks for Sonny ;-) but I would think that any performance engine run as intended would put more stress on the other non-performance parts. Now, if one were to drive the performance bike exactly as they did the stock bike, I would think the stresses would be equal, but then what's the point?

I'm not necessarily saying that you're incorrect, and I sorta, kinda, want to be talked out of this viewpoint, it's just that Sonny's stance makes common sense to me AND it prevents me from starting to save pennies for a future trip to Carpenter land.

My bikes get plenty of love and maintenance, along with some occasional moderate thrashing just to let the horse out in the pasture to run when she tells me to.

I am merely pointing out that there is no evidence (that ive seen) to support saying a Carpenter or Lush motor is less reliable. I do agree if you thrash it, or push the power past the design or structural limit its gonna break.
ln my opinion, the Rocket motor is quite a stout little motor! Heck, there are guys on this forum that have everything I did, PLUS a blower and they drive the wheels off them!
Which is why I decided to modify my motor. Nothing crazy mind you , but I expect the opposite! I expect a more reliable motor! Maybe I'm nuts!:roll::roll::roll:

Ah, h@LL, maybe I should just go ahead and start that penny jar.

I think the important thing is that these (and all modern triumphs) are built like the proverbial brick Shiethouse, strong as.
