Stiff throttle?

I know Pete recently posted a question above, about having a "sticky throttle" but my question is a little different; it is about having a "stiff throttle"

I know that one can draw sexual parallels to this, but please don't.... Wink

Anyway, is the Rocket 3's throttle engineered to be more resistant (stiff) to rotation than other motorcycles, such as a Honda VTX or other like cruiser?

All cables appear to be adjusted correctly on my Rocket (there was a previous issue where the forward bracket was encroaching on one of the throttle cables by the intakes, but I rectified that)

It should snap right back when you let go. If it doesn't, check your cable routes & lubrication, and the tightness of the bar end weight.

Yes, it does "snap back" when I let it go; and the bar end weight has clearance so it doesn't bind the throttle sleeve.

This is a new Rocket. Don't the cables come pre-lubed already?

Just wondering if it's normal to take more effort to twist the throttle open, as opposed to a metric bike's throttle. I guess I'm just asking for validation from a couple of captains here if this is normal and expected.

Uh, I hate to break it to you, it IS a metric bike.

Well, I meant a Japanese bike. To me Japanese = Metric. The Rocket is British; well "metric" too.... Just a poor choice of words I guess...

..c'mon, I'm still a "pizza boy"

I knew what you meant, just bored...

The vrod is metric too. Seems to really piss off those HD guys when I point that out to them...

"It's not no metric POS! It's a Harley!"

"Oh yeah? Open that tool kit..."

I've been using standard sockets on mine. Some of them are a bit wobbly and others I have to use a small hammer to get them onto the bolt, but I'm pretty sure it's all standard.

A few of the bolts that get used most often now require a pair of vice grips. I'm not sure if they vice grips are standard or metric though.

Yes, I checked that. That looks good. "Owl" mentioned that cables should be checked for lube; but this is a new Rocket. Aren't the cables already pre-lubed, or should I do it again?

I hate lubing cables. Crap goes everywhere EXCEPT into the cable.....

Are the metal bends off the throttle tightened too much or tweaked in any way?
