spark plug query...

I'm currently dealing with a couple issues on my 09 touring, pretty sure main problem is a hinky TPS with all the symptoms and am waiting on new part to materializer. In the meantime a good tune is in order and am starting with new plugs...... Our closest parts store in town had 3 NGK DPR7EA-9's and 3 NGK DPR8EA-9's and since I'm slightly impatient got to wondering the ramifications of installing 1ea. per cylinder. Genius or bad idea?

Wouldn't do it, wait fora full complete set. Believe NGK heat range is opposite of most plugs, as number goes up heat range gets colder.

Thanks for your reply Gerald,my thinking was either heat range is recommended and since both were represented in each cylinder it would be the best of both worlds!?

Casting different spark plugs with slightly different heat ranges in one assembly is not advisable because it will cause inconsistency in the heat range. If done improperly, it could bring about a condition where parts of the fuel are burned while others are not, which would impact the performance of the engine. If your currently waiting for a new TPS than it be best to wait for matching plugs or get them on the internet if available. Resistance variation is minimized when spark plugs are made consistent to reduce any unwanted disturbance. Hope this tune-up helps you a lot!

I did install them in order, 7 in the forward part of each cylinder so they are consistant in that regard, haven't heard much good about the Iridium plugs if you or anyone else has had good experience with them let me know. There are 6 plugs. Not 3. Btw.
As for your what plugs to use. The one starting in 8 is better and correct. But it came with the 7s from the factory on the early years. Honestly it does not matter. Service intervals is way too short to care. I went with the 7s because cheaper

i installed 1 plug from both heat ranges so I only have to pull 3 to make them match, local bike shop only had three 7s and three 8s
