If you had done piston ring damage you would have done more than just that and would know,

I would suggest draining the oil and pulling the filter and cutting it open and looking for any metal material in there otherwise just ride it.

good idea, i will check filter next time.

You could have a bunch of symptoms, here are just a few

Smoke from exhaust - blue/white-ish due to oil getting past the piston and into the combustion
Excessive oil consumption
Rough idle
Poor performance - worn/damaged rings result in less compression and thus less power
Excessive oil in the air filter as a result of blow by oil due to positive pressure in the case
