Yes - Granny Guzzi, fat mama R3 and now

Picked her up today - had a quick play and realise I have to relearn a lot of stuff I've forgotten about.

Rule 1. Remove brain before starting.



Also have to learn how to use a fly-by-wire throttle. And to trust in ABS - cornering ABS - traction control etc. It may be a small step for some - HUGE LEAP for me - I don't trust ................. pretty much anything.

I tell you - it feels just like something from Airfix. I can't remember the last time I was prepared to park facing so I'd have to reverse out uphill. It's like pushing a bicycle about.

I shall continue to ride as if I don't have ABS - but now with a safety net.

Those nannies are fantastic. You will start pushing harder and harder not realizing the bike is making corrections for you.

Granny is always treated as it is - A Granny. I've had it since 1982 and we are blood relatives. It still has (imo) one of the best braking systems ever - period.

The R3 worries me a bit - But it was already starting to WEIGH on my mind and legs.

The KTM "handles" - I don't mean almost, sort of or even fairly reasonably. Yes it would be nice to play with damping a bit - but honestly it is near spot on for me. Do I miss the thump an SDR would have? - Yes!. Is this a regret? - Nope!.

Trust the ABS, but remember it can also amplify bad habits, such as grabbing a handfull of front brake or stomping on the rear brake. Practice your trail braking lots with smooth squeeze on and off and you will be fine.

I have never enjoyed a bike as much as my SDR, but it takes so much concentration to ride fast. It is brutal and will easily defeat all the nannies. My BMW is much easier to ride.

I want to try a 790, but I am worried I would like it too much. The problem is, I would never get rid of the SDR and I don't need 3 naked style bikes (Ducati V4 Streetfighter is still in my line of sights)
