Put a federal 595 . 245/50/ 16 0n the rear 400 kms later the side wall blge is at least 3cm high and 10 cm across. Totally destroyed and potentially life threatening . Has anyone else had simular occur.Local tyre centre who fitted it arent looking impresed about replacing it .

You either got a dud tyre or you're running wrong pressures. I have run that exact same tyre for fifteen thousand kms so far, it's only halfway worn, behaving perfectly, and I don't muck around much on corners. Hanso also ran one further than that & reckoned it was the duck's guts. Something seriously wrong mate!!

Just another thought... which side of the tyre is the problem? If it's the right side, see above post. If it's the left side, is the sidewall rubbing in that spot on the swingarm? See if a bit of thin cardboard will slide in between the sidewall and the swing arm.

If it's touching, the tyre is fitted incorrectly on the rim. They WILL clear, if they're on the rim straight. Ours have never touched.

The bulge is on the right side ruzzle, full clearance although the plastic inner guard does lightly touch. Have a full weekend run leaving tomorrow, now liiks like i ll be a car ing it bugger.tyre dearler says about 2 weeks to get another It is .Good to hear the tyres can handle it, must be a dude. Was getting the usuall uninformed biased bull**** about the tyre , from the guys . now this, bugger bugger , will have to keep my hands in my pockets to stop me from ***** slapping someone on the run this weekend,

:whitstling::whitstling::whitstling::whitstling: Your 29 tyre pressure oughta be good for your weight. Don't take any notice of the "usual uninformed biased bull****" from the guys..... there's a fair bit of it about......

Every two years i get new tires for my flat bed truck, without fail there is usually 1 or 2 that has slight buldges. The tire guy said it's no problem i told him if it is your replacing it . i've learned threw the years starting a paper trail helps in the long run. I brought in the sales slip wrote on it the date and what the problem was and had him sign it. Giving them that options usually gets results without having to be aggressive about it. As far as bikes go i wouldn't chance it.JMO

I had this problem with my Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 after about 3000 miles. I'm assuming it was a problem with the mounting. Considering how much the shop argued against putting that tire on in the first place I just bit the bullet and got another tire and had it installed by someone else.
