Shifting issue from 4th to 5th

Ah, I see. Yeah I have had it where I shift up and leave my boot up and it will bounce around until it clicks into place. I just dropped it off at the dealer and I guess they will get to it on Tuesday due to the holiday. I do need to get a lift of some sort for the bike, I have a jack that I used for my old bike but I need to build a bracket or buy a one to be able to get it off the ground. When I put my engine bars on, I had a hell of a time with the jack that I was using haha.
 
I have had two detent springs break. The first time the bike was stuck in 1st gear, but I was less than a mile from home so no problem. The second time it would change gears okay, but would jump out of 3rd and 4th, unless I held pressure on the gear selector. I rode it from the west coast back to Baltimore like that.

I believe that there was another chap who ended up stuck in 5th gear, and rode it half way across America in 5th gear to get home.

It is a reasonably easy repair, if you have appropriate tools. It is even easier when done under warranty.
 
Hmm...if this is going on with 2016's in particular, I would like to see what an eventual Technical Service Bulletin would say to do. For the record, mine is a 2013 and having no issues. Neutral can be shy and hard to find, but every bike I ever had did that!
 

God that sounds awful haha. I just called the dealer and they said they are about to check it out shortly. Will post back if they find anything. Again, thanks for all the help everyone.
 
Went to the dealer yesterday. Looks like they got permission from Triumph to crack the engine open and start poking around. Said eta possibly 1 week, but I have a feeling it is going to be longer....

They were very nice about a loaner though. They let me pick pretty much whatever I wanted so I figured it would be a good time to hop on a sport oriented bike for a change. It is very fun, a little bit uncomfortable as I am used to the big comfy seat on the R3 but it corners much better haha. Ride by wire is bit weird feeling though. Hoping to have R3 back soon....

 
Well, finally got some information. Per tech, they are changing all shifter forks out. Not sure if they were all bad or if only one was bad and they decided to just swap them all to be certain. Still waiting on time frame. They said by next week? Will be almost a month at that point...
 
Yep, just saw your last post. Same issue mine had, mis-shappen shift forks and incorrect assembly. I wonder if a new tech was hired in 2014 or a new supplier started providing forks, because Iv never seen this problem mentioned before it happened to me.

Hopefully your tech is as awesome as mine was!!
 

My '11 has been in the shop for the past 1.5 months for a bent shift fork and busted output gears:

Interesting @jpool . Very curious to hear if it was a miss assembled tranny that led to the bent fork, as mine was. If so we can trace it back to at least 2011.

At $4000+ a bike to do these warranty repairs this HAS to be something Triumph is watching closely.
