screw in my tire

I'm looking for a little advise- just noticed a small screw in my back tire (CT) today. I'm leaving friday for Kentucky (500 mi.). I'm going to get some stop-leak and pull it out- I figure if it doesn't leak I'm OK, would you guys risk the trip if stop- leak is required? Screw is toward the outside edge of the tread so I might be OK.
 
I ran a plug in my CT for over 15k miles with no issue. Depending on the size of the screw, you might get by with the slime but just letting you know that a plug is ok, too.
 
I plugged a screw hole in my Bridgestone with one of those car tire plug kits a few hundred miles ago and it's holding fine. Can't hardly tell where it was now because it blended in good.. A screw leaves a pretty good size hole. Stop leak might be worth a shot, but you might need to plug it.

I'm sure some will come on and say you absolutely have to get a new tire.. For myself, I would plug it.. ride the bike some before you take off on your trip.. and if all is well, take off and enjoy Kentucky.. Some beautiful riding up there!
 
DO NOT USE stop leak unless you have to. It makes a mess and will throw the balance off. I had three nails in my CT and did not know it till I pull it off to replace it. Plugging a tire is fine. Have someplace put a plug/batch is even better but you have to remove the tire from the rim. Have a good trip.
 
Fix it properly i reckon ... i've ran a plug for the entire life of a rear tyre. Picked up a bolt just after i'd bought a brand new ME880.
 
A plug is better than that green gewy mess, i have a close friend that has a tire shop and he says that stuff is the wheels worse enemy!
 
Plug it. I've run plugs in the past for ,000s of kms with never an issue. No slime unless you have no alternative.

and its not really as odd as one might think.......
 
Plug it........do not use stop leak!!!!! that stuff will ruin your tire!!!!
