Well you should have never believed in that line. And I know I shouldn't have, but I called Geico today on the recommendation of another insurance company agent. Let me give you the story.

It is time for my five year review and comparison. Went to my Farmers insurance agent Monday for a policy review. House, 6 cars and 5 motorcycles. My total bill is $5300 annually. I asked him to make some changes and get back to me on the cost savings potential. Called him today and was given some excuses why it isn't done yet but he said he would call me with it tomorrow. So a friend of mine suggested his insurance agent at AFI. Call that guy and got some really nice savings. I had him quote the whole enchilada. About $800 savings. He said I could save even more if my youngest son who has a ticked that is less than 3 years old wasn't on the quote. Ok what do I tell him to do I asked. He said call Geico because they actually have better rates for folks like him.

OK ... I called Geico. He was right. My son could get the same coverage for a few hundred bucks less at Geico then at AFI. Win Win. I asked the lady at Geico if she could give me more than 15 minutes. Sure she said. We talked for 3 and a half hours. Really. I had her quote the whole enchilada too. I didn't save 15%. No way. She saved me 36%. Yeah that is right 36%. $3400 for all of it, including the son with the ticket. I am going tomorrow to do all the paperwork.

Oops ! Lose Lose for the AFI and Farmers agents.

Good on you for shopping around...
I shop around use the lowest quote and go back to my agent and tell them to match or I walk... They always complain but end up matching... Find out what geico use for replacement parts only reason I did not use them is that they don't use oem but replacement or junkyard parts....

GEICO, is who I have my bike through. When I had my off last June and called them after being transferred to town, their main concern was that I was OK. Young lady I spoke to even called me later to make sure I was OK, and understood I had waved the ambulance. Adjusters did everything within their power to save my 05 as I had many good rides and fond memories on her and wanted to keep it. Helmet replacement was a no questions asked, just a picture of the old one with chin straps removed. I was in close contact with then people I was involved with and they said GEICO took care of them very well too. Hope I never have to utilize their services again, but for me it's nice knowing they have my back.

I am glad you guys got taken care off but here in Illinois they are not all that great... As long as you get your money's worth its all good...

I'm actually a little surprised that motorcycle insurance is as low as it is. With full coverage at Allstate my rate is just $36 a month. Seems like a good price when it could cost thousands in repair if it just falls over onto the ground.

I just shopped around for my new 2014 R3R and out the door full coverage no questions asked replacement with brand new and the highest payout for under/no insurance etc. and highest medical is $437 year round. This also covers up to $5k in accessories...

I shop all my insurance at least every 2 years. Companies target certain markets and demographics at different times. There are often better deals to be found if you shop rather than staying with one company.

Also, select a high deductible and be careful of claims. I had two plumbing leaks and foolishly filed two claims against my homeowners insurance within two years. I was with Travellers at the time and they cancelled me due to the claims. Finding another policy was difficult and my premium almost doubled. It will slowly drop over the next several years, if I don't file any claims.

I've now moved a couple of policies to USAA. I like their customer service, but don't expect them to be any better than the others should I actually need the insurance.
