I going on a road trip next week and need some help. I am going to buy a handlebar mounted GPS system. What kind should I buy? Cost is not as important as ease of use & visibility.
I also am considering a satelite radio. I already subcribe to XM & Sirius so what radio should I look at? I have an iTouch w/Bluetooth so I could load XM onto the iTouch but has anyone tried that on a bike?
I expect the GPS will have bluetooth so I can use all 3 - PHONE, GPS & SAT RADIO through a bluetooth headset. I have the Scala Q2.
The Garmin Zummo 665 is pricey but comes with XM radio and has a built in MP3 player as well (use microSD card), it is bluetooth enabled. Everything you need to mount it on your bike (and in a car) is in box. You only need to spend more if you want a different mount.
I use the 660 (no XM) with a Chatterbox xbi2 paired to my phone and my wifes Chatterbox and have had no troubles.
The Zumo 665 is probably going to be the unit I put on the new bike when I get it. The main reason (it is pricey) is that with the XM you can track weather on the display which if you are going on trips is real handy to know where those storms are or how "big" the weather system is that you may try to go around.
I would like the Garzin Zumo 550 or 600 (or better yet, the 660). Because I already own a Garmin Street Pilot 2650 (and partly for financial reasons), I went ahead and installed that. Works well, though there's no audio via Bluetooth.
