Catherine has asked me if i'll 'deliver' Santa to a picnic lunch she's organising. Told her I'd be happy to , a bit of 100mph tape to hold his dodgy beard on and we should be fine. Lunch is for kids in foster care and the foster parents that give them a home .. good cause and it should be a laugh.

Remember when I worked for the Salvos years ago I was asked to do the same thing .. had other stuff to do on the day. Arranged for a mate from one of the 1%er clubs to deliver Santa. Wasn't there but was told Santa (dickhead Salvo captain) was ashen faced upon arrival. Clubbie owned a Rocket .. hahahaha

Cool endeavor TC!

Years ago, my unit was given the pleasure of bringing Santa to the Base. Since we are known to be water hounds, we got the local boat unit to lend us a hand. One of my fellow swimmers dressed in a Santa suit over his wet gear and as the helicopter flew low by the kids on the sea wall, he waved out the door. The bird flew by the one of the boats in the river and then Santa jumped. The crowd went crazy with cheers and watched him swim over to and climb onto the boat. The boat came ashore and Santa jumped out dry as could be. (We pulled the old switcheroo on them and the kids loved it as did the parents). However, the chain of command was not pleased and we were privately squashed. Scrooges...

Actually Peter K was Salvo Santa's little helper now that I think about it .. can't remember why Shultzy couldn't do it or if the Salvo's didn't want a clubbie at their function , anyway remember Peter K helping out. Do remember the Salvo didn't shut-up for days about the Rocket .. he owned a stupid f#ckin scooter.
Sorry Pete ..

This sort of thing is always fun and warms the heart. I have a toy run to a local boys and girls home with one of the MC's here on Sunday. The kids always think its WAY cool when a couple hundred bikes pull up in the parking lot. Can't say the same for their care takers...most appreciate the kindness shown to the kids, but would rather it be delivered by guys in slacks and polo shirts riding some socially acceptable transportation. Kids don't seem to have the same prejudice though...

I grew up in a VERY small town, my parents used to do a Christmas eve gift delivery. The parents would drop off the gifts with the kids names, my mother would collect the information etc. Then my father and some chums would pile into the Lincoln and deliver a gift to each kid from 'Santa', one of my uncles filled in as Santa one year, and was severely reprimanded by his elves when he declined one of the parents giving him a bag of beer for "Santa's helpers in the sled", never made that mistake again, however the kids couldn't figure out why Santa had to go back up to the house to retrieve the bag.......I think cookies and milk for the elves was the cover story.

Must have pictures of the event, TC or it didn't happen! Besides, I'm certain that your mug shot is long overdue to be updated!

Group of us playing in the ski boat years ago on the river in Taree, round the bend, back towards Wingham. About twenty kids from the Convent were being taken for a walk along the riverbank by the Nuns, so we offered to give the kids a ride in the boat, 2 or 3 at a time. They LOVED it! Couldn't get the nuns aboard tho!

Wouldn't be game to do it these days with all the liability crap.

Funniest thing was one of the guys in baggy shorts did a deepwater start and came up out of the drink with his shorts around his ankles.

Let go and dropped back under very quickly...............
