i just bought the rocket x and am looking for some saddlebags for my us trip. i plan to drive from la to miami in 5 weeks and then take the bike home to switzerland.
i have googled for a few hours and also found some threads on this forum, however they were mostly old threads and i couldnt really find a satisfying tip on the bag topic.
my biggest concern is size, i want to have enough room to comfortably store my stuff without wearing a backpack or haul around other cumbersome luggage.
http://www.leatherup.com/ has a bunch of them. Everything I have purchased from them has been top quality, and the prices are usually extremelty competitive. I am using a set of their leather bags now, fastened on with Easy Brackets.
However, if you want a second hand set of Hepco Becker hard bags, with mounting brackets, let me know.
What is your plan of travel from LA to Miami? if you are coming along the 10 give me a shout when you get close to Florida and I will buy you lunch if you need a place to crash that would not be a problem also.
nice input guys thank you, the corbin bags are interesting however for that price i would want them to be made in the same look as my bike, which i havent been able to find on that page yet.
since i will be traveling just by bike i figure the locking part might come in handy as well. i do realize that lockable saddlebags arent really secure, but its a small precaution to keep someone from just reaching in and grabbing my undies >.<
thats pretty sweet idaho, i went with the leatherlykes, and function wise they are fine, but the corbins are in a whole nother class. does corbin offer a trunk? trunks are a must me thinks.
Looks really nice Idaho RR3. The Corbin's do look the best but I just have a hard time with 1800.00 for a set of saddle bags. Maybe the wife will get me some for my birthday and then I can blame it on her for spending that kind of money. Al
i agree that does look very sweet idaho red rocket 3, i think i would prefer the somewhat vintage looking leather bags though. my friend is now checking out the vikingbags.com has to offer and according to his feedback i will probably order thouse. they are not as big as i would like but the fact that they are lockable and can be mounted with a quick detach system is a real pro. and i have not found any other serious looking bags webpage that i like. the throwover idea is nice but i want something hard mounted.
if you have any more inputs for big, lockable leather bags with a quick detach system i would be happy to hear them though
thank you guys
