Hey all,
So the wife and I road north on I-5 yesterday and stayed at the Townhall Suites by Mariott, in Redding, CA. Nice free breakfast.
Ride in appointment was at 8:00 am. We met with Kim the office manager and Mike the owner' son and the seat builder. They suggested their marine grade vinyl over leather. Mike said he used leather on his bike and subsequently replaced it with the vinyl.
We also went with the small diamond shape stiching. We live in a warm climate so we passed on the somewhat pricey seat heating. Did get my wife' seat and backrest done also a backrest for me. I really like the adjustability of my backrest; up-down, lean angle forward-back and quick removal.
They took seated photos of me on the bike as Mike held the front end to simulate riding feet up. Also photos of my wife and I togeher, feet up. I had taken prints of seats I liked off their website and shared them with Mike. He was patient and walked me through the process.
They told us to walk the town and get a cup of coffee. We are sitting in Heritage Roasting Company. Great coffee, tea and sweet goodies. Great music and Cassie is a sweetheart. If I was unmarried and 30 years younger....I would weasel out and be to afraid to talk with her. But being old and married I can have fun.
Our next step in to go back at 11:30 and do the "seat test" before they cover it...add padding, make adjustments, re-do aesthetics...etc.
Attached in a before shot out front of Russell.
More later.
