Route Advice

Mebbe, I can get down to Berlin to meetcha!
It'd be a pleasure. I'll let you know when I finalize the flight details.

The western route would be a far nicer ride. You would be higher up in altitude, cooler, less humid and even the slab is a pretty decent ride. I85 sux major &%% around Durham and Charlotte NC. Around Atlanta....... just shoot yerself first.

I was thinking of heading west from Washington on I-66 as @Idaho Red Rocket 3 suggested. Then I-40 south to Knoxville, and turn my sights on the dragon. Then south through Blue Ridge. Probably stay west of Atlanta, and take 20 towards Birmingham.

But I still have a few weeks to decide.

I've ridden part of it, but it looks like it falls parallel to my route. Which hwy is it? Is that 29?

The Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) isn't a numbered highway. It begins outside of Waynesboro, VA at the top of Afton Mountain Pass on I-64. You get on it and just stay on it all the way. You can overnight around Boone, NC. The Chateau Morrisette Winery is a great stop in southern Virginia.

I found it. Thanks. Got it mapped all the way to Cherokee, NC.

Just ordered a Garmin Zumo 660LM, and downloaded Basecamp to my laptop, so hopefully I will be able to figure it out and map a route, then load it to the GPS.
