Rocket bore/stroke,vs. HD bore stroke

The way I described my exhaust sounds would be like a car at idle and a turbocharged dump truck at acceleration. After 4k it has another type of growl or roar I haven't had a way to describe

Doesn't seem like even a straight pipe on a R3 makes the same ruckus at idle that a hog does. I was just in Port Dover on Friday for their Friday the 13th "rally" and not even Carpenter's thunderous Brute idles with the same kind of volume these guys were packing. As far as I'm concerned, a loud exhaust should be a symptom of a high performance build, not a replacement. I'd much rather be fast and quiet than slow and noisy.

As for the OP's original point (as I took it) I agree that there is a resonance and menace to an open piped Harley that SEEMS like should be present based on the size of the pistons on the rocket. Previous posts appear to explain some of the difference, but I'm not going to complain.

Hogs do sound good, but when I rev my big girl's engine the earth not only trembles beneath her, it travels beneath her... and fast.

After years of owning Japanese bikes with aftermarket exhausts like Vance and Hines on my M109R and Shadow ACE.... I've come to actually enjoy the queiter sound... Now that we have laws around here that prohibit loud pipes, its good to be under the radar of the police in certain riding areas... I can also hear my music and wife better through our communication head sets and generally its just more respectful around the office where I park on the premise.

I do like the way a harley sounds when its got good pipes, they can sound great.... but **** they are too loud and just dont make enough power to actually make it worth it.

Did we have a very brief chat as we were leaving on Friday? Red (faster) '05 ?

We did indeed! I was trying to find your bike again but there were just so many bikes and people. I was happy to see another rocket, even if it was just in passing. I was accompanied by my father on the KTM Superduke 1290 (one incredible machine... makes a Diavel look like a sleeping kitten) and my good friend on a Scrambler.
