Popped into the dealers today and they were unpacking a black roadster..as most of you know i have been thinking about changing the footpegs and levers from my standard to those of the roadster
Anyways i asked if i could sit on it when they'd finnished..oh boy i felt at home immediately..things progressed and he made me a great offer for my bike
I have till monday to make up my mind.
How much better is the roadster performance wise and who as one who had either a
standard or a classic or have you demo'd one
I always said i wouldn't part with my standard..but i'm really tempted to get the roadster

I saw on another thread that the two (standard and roadster) actually dyno'd practically the same...I haven't ridden a standard, but my roadster handles very, very well in the twisties. Much better than my T-Bird. Maybe he'll let you take her out for a spin? My only complaint about the roadster is the foot position...I prefer them to be like the standard rocket, but I'm learning to live with it. Cheers!

If the Roadster moves ya,
That'd be the one I'd get.
Besides, now, the standard wouldn't make ya happy anymore.
Let somebody else get a good deal on it from the dealer
and you get what YOU want to boot.

A new bikes always tempting... Roadster has more than footpegs different to the Standard. I reckon all the additions from the Standard to the Roadster were well thought out and make a good bike even better.

I agree, I have a roadster and like the fact it has ABS for one and the gear indicator in the instruments, although I did put the Hagon Nitros Shocks on the rear and made it a lot better for ride comfort and handling. I went 1" shorter cos I have short legs and find now that I am scraping foot pegs a lot now, but I will put up with that.

I have the Roadster and the gauges are much nicer, silencers look better (I think so anyways), and it's a Roadster not a classic. lol

I'll report back here when I get some miles on the new Roadster Monday. I'll be riding her Monday and Tuesday from NC. I'm worried I won't like the peg position and with no crash bars I won't be able to move my feet up to a more comfortable position. I'm also concerned she won't have the accustomed pep as compared to the 06 standard that has been augmented some. At least it will get me around until the 06 is out of the shop. (May be looking for a buyer then.)

My understanding from past threads was that the Roadster specs were better on paper than in reality. Captains who had ridden both felt that the standard/classic models had more power than the manner in which the Roadster was tuned. Of course that can all be fixed in any event if it is true.

Peg position would be the big one for me. If you prefer more of a standard position then I would definitely go Roadster. But if you like the slightly feet forward cruiser style stick with what you have. Sounds you are a fan of the newer peg position. Also, footboards versus pegs. I think, although I could be wrong, you get a little better clearance in the corners with the boards as opposed to the pegs.

ABS, nicer gauges (although still inaccurate fuel gauge) are all gravy although ABS would be nice I think.

Personally, I do not like the look of the 2 cannons on the Roadster but exhaust can also be changed.

Worst case scenario, if I am too uncomfortable, I can stop at a Triumph store and buy some after market crash bars and have them installed.

I can't wait till I hear them big ol' "silencers" after I work on the baffles a little I bet they are really deep sounding! (Already have a Dobek on the way to compensate). My GIPro w ATRE got here yesterday. Now if I just had a morotrcycle to put them on

The Roadster is extremely detuned so you going to have to play with the tunes. I would also recommend get rid of the crossover, and make sure you have TORS or Jardines. Wayne at PowerTripp told me this. I wouldn't doubt that the classics have more power compared to the Roadster in stock form. I have achieved all the above and it is a heck a lot better now.
