Well chit! This has been an interesting read, from start to end. Some good info. And I fear the 2015 engine, that I have in my 06 chassis, is developing the dreaded "slipped" snap ring thing. Shifts fine, no popping out of any gear, BUT sometimes when just cruising along, in 5th gear, a slight let off on the throttle, freeing everything up, I get a slight noise and light feel of gears trying to mesh. Kinda like if you slowly engage first gear from neutral. From what I've read here over the years, that snap ring problem usually winds up with a totally locked up rear wheel ??? SCARY

I would stop riding it. The first thing I would do is pull the front cover on the engine and check the detent spring. That's probably not going to be the problem, but I would rule it out before removing the entire engine.
