I find the bars just a little too wide and far away from me. If I didn't have prior injuries to my neck and shoulder, I probably wouldn't have a problem.
When I first got my R3std, it had 2700 miles on it. The previous owner had taken the handlebars and heated and twisted them just above the first bend at the risers toward the tank. He IMO overdid it. It was like steering with a boat tiller. It probably would have worked fine for me if he hadn't overdone the adjustment. BUT, it did lead to my 6 bends that I LOVE! Talk about comfort! Pics in my gallery.
I dropped the Rivco risers on my R3T. They're not great but they do the trick and allow me to lean back a bit (instead up sitting in an upright rigid position).
And 3 months later, they're still OK.
If there were any alternatives I would've chosen something different.
I actually emailed ScootWorks, they make the Phat Risers I had on my Honda.
I asked them to make a set of their 4" pullbacks. Never heard from them.....
Two more inches would do the trick !
(That's what she said......)
My other gripe with the Rivco risers is the movement. The bars on my R3T had a good 1/2 inch of play. It's normal (I asked), but I still didn't like it. It's due to the bars being rubber mounted. As with anything longer, leverage comes into play the farther away from the joint you get.
Re: the movement/play in the bars with the Rivco risers
Here's what I don't understand. My T-Bird has almost identical risers as the Rivcos for the R3T, yet they have ZERO movement. I haven't looked to see how the risers are mounted on the T-Bird. Maybe they're not rubber mounted. That's the only thing I can figure.
I've found the Rivco risers to be almost perfect. I never had any pain issues, just a bit too much of a reach. There is a bit of play, but I don't notice it anymore. Easy to install, just swing the clutch cable to the other side. I also moved it outside the plastic shroud that holds it in front of the tank. Gives it a bit more room.
At 6'2" I find the change to very comfortable, I'd buy them again.
Ok Ime not short but apparently shorter than yall
Ime 5'7" tall
I too had neck and shoulder pain that I attributed to a wreck I had a few years back.
But since the rivco risers I have not had that neck and shoulder pain.
Granted I only road about 90 miles at a stretch but before that at about 35 to 40 miles on the mountain roads I had pain.
Maybe its just me but I looooooove my rivco risers. It brings me back far enough to use my back rest and to relax my arms a bit more.
