Removing the throttle bodies

I have a slight weep of oil from underneath my oil tank, so as it’s a little chilly today I decided to try the “shoogle the tank around a bit” fix.

Problem is, I cannot get the darn throttle bodies off. I’ve taken off the air cleaner and loosened the three jubilee clips at the bottom of the bodies, removed a metal bracket to the right of the bodies, taken the throttle cables off, removed as much wiring as possible and... nothing.

They’re a bit wobbly but won’t pop off as the manual suggests they should - take off the air-cleaner duct and slacken the bottom clamps, then pull them off, that’s all it says.

Any thoughts or clues on what I may have missed?

Oh, and one other thing - what size are the bolts on the oil tank? 11mm won’t fit in and 12mm just seems to be a slack fit - are these bolts imperial?

Mine seem to be massively tight too, is that normal?

Gas Axe. They pop anything off.

Bolts - more likely to be cheepo Chinese than Imperial.

There is a bolt on the back and front to stabilize the throttle bodies.

There is a bolt on the back and front to stabilize the throttle bodies.

Is that front and back along the line of the bike (so left and right as you look at the throttle bodies from the side of the bike?)

If so, I think I found the back one - attached to a metal bracket that itself bolts into the body top and bottom, but couldn’t see the other one - that’s likely to be what was holding things on securely!

Did you remove the bolt at the other end (front end / left side of throttles)?

I find (after loosening jubilee clips on rubbers, and removing those 2 either-end bolts) waggling the throttle bodies about to loosen them and then pull them upwards via the injector rail - right hand fingers around the rail and thumb around the chassis spine, left hand push/pull them side to side - will get them off.

They can be stuck pretty good and need a good pull. Put a towel or something between them and the chassis spine though, they will let go suddenly

Both the long bolts that hold oil tank down to engine are M8

Ah, that'll explain it - I didn't see the one at that end - I'm so pleased I didn't try to force it Thank you!
