I am on the hunt for a R3R.
Doing my research and finding that the GT & R are the same bike with ancillary changes (bars, peg location, pillion backrest, rear wheel, etc)
I much prefer the look of the GT rear wheel.
Is it just that the R rear wheel is completely coated and the GT has machined highlights?
Has anyone taken the paint stripper to their R wheel, to achieve the same effect?

While they are the same wheel, I don't think just stripping the paint from the R would give you the same effect as it won't have the machined face. A good wheel restoration place could probably do it though. And the GT has the machined faces on front as well as rear...

I much prefer the blacked out wheel on the R model. If you're in the states and you wanna swap both wheels Id be open to it provided your wheels are mint!!! This would apply to anyone else in the United States that would be interested.

What an offer!
If only I was in the land of The Donald, I would jump at the opportunity. Thanks.
Unfortunately, I'm in Australia.
Any GT owners of a similar ilk, in Aus?

Ah. I see, said the blind man.
Great info. That's why I love communities like you guys and gals.
I have not had the opportunity to see a GT in the flesh, so was unaware of the wheel being fancy on both sides.

The advantage of having the GT wheels, is that you can always cover your bling up.
I have used Plasticoat to good effect, on a chromed spoked wheel on trials bike, giving that black anodised look.
Unsure if you have that brand in America, but it's the plasticised spray on paint that can be peeled off, when you don't like it anymore, leaving no residue.

Yeah mate, I am in Oz, but on the other side, Geraldton WA. I prefer the blacked-out wheels but too far away to make it work. Maybe someone else will be closer for you.
