rear brakes R3

I installed new rear brakes on my R3 and they seem to run hot on the disc in the beginning, figured cause they were new, not bad now. If I use them, after a few stops, they still do get pretty hot, is this normal?

I ain't no expert but..

mine get warm. Do you do alot of HARD stoppin'? you know, from 80 to 0 in 2.5 seconds. Or do you ride it like a cruiser? If you run it like a busa and stop it quick mine would get alot hotter I'm sure. I ride it like I always did my hardlys only harder and faster, ..You know, come to think of it, I don't ride like I use to. I try not to do any power stops though, and I haven't noticed any excessive heat. I'll pay more attention tomorrow on the way to and from work..Take care, xhdskip

I replaced mine this winter and had the same issue, but after the first half dozen stops it returned to normal. I could even feel them drag to start.

No sure of the brand name But they were HH rated

A lot of HH pads wear pretty agressively on the rotor(s), causing more than normal heat. You may find that the rear caliper may need some adjustment to help it center on the rotor if you are having problems with the pads dragging.

The rear caliper floats and should center it self.

Key word here is should.

Some caliper designs need a bit of cleaning and help from time to time.

My brakes are fine now. I however did have a strange occurance tonight. I had excelerated hard up to a light trying to make it under green. (I know we all do that at times) I decided I wasn't going to make, it and now had to brake equally as hard. Remind you I have new HH rear pads and goodyear F1 rubber to connect it to the road. There was small ripples in the road to get me started, and, well what I would discribe as the worse case of wheel hop I have ever noticed on anything I have ever driven.... I eased of on the brake and it of course come out of the hop.. I have never had anything hop quite like that. The only thing I could think of is that I was not entirely out of the gas and got too much front brake. (I always use both Front and Rear brakes). To this moment I don't know for sure????
