REAL New Model news

I am disappointed in the ability of the moto news agencies to get a spy shot.

Triumph are quite good at hiding development bikes, so it doesn't surprise me, but it would be great if MCN or someone could get a spy shot.

This for example, is the only shot I know of, of a prototype they killed development on that would have taken the crown as the fastest sportsbike on the market. Sadly, it never saw the light of day, but it was probably the progenitor of the 1200cc triples in the Tiger and Trophy.

I was number one on my dealers waiting list before the Rocket was announced. I ended up getting the first one in Canada, supposedly the 12th bike off the line. Back then I got a leather case for the handbook and a dvd with all the specs including a 2.8 sec claimed 0-60. They must have made the dvd before the decision to throttle it back!
P.S. I should add that that is almost exactly what I was told about the time the bobber was announced.

Takes a lot of gusto to launch an R3 that hard, by a lot I mean you better be ready to crash lol.

I think the fastest I’ve logged was 3 or 3.1 with some wheel spin, and that was a terrifying experience soooo much torque trying to rip you off the bike lol.

Diavel is 100kg less weight than RIII. If Triumph engineers are serious about competing here, they must manage to come ballpark close to 300kg wet (now 330+kg dry), at least. Or better below 300kg. Than yes, it does make sense to do it with all the limitations of Euro regulation in such case. And it does make sense to place deposit

In my opinion, the new bike will have to look very different due to weight loss - much less steel parts, consider aluminium frame, more magnesium, titanium parts, maybe even fake tank, less fuel capacity etc. Just my 0.02

100% agree. I was told the engine is completely new and focused on cutting weight. I expect an aluminum twin spar frame as well.

A not insignificant portion of the mass is the rotating components of the motor... the crank alone weighs 39lb lol.

If they’re serious about weight expect to lose the shaft drive, chain would cut about 80lb off the R3.

Plus like other captains you have so much tied into the bike you could never get your money back, as it is a work of art/love we know you would never sell it.
