Living Legend
Another poster on this site and I have been collaborating on various designs for a Paddock Stand for the R3, R3 Classic ans R3 touring, one reason I did the poll on lug spacing.
Things are coming to fruition. The cam plates and gusset assemblies have been laser cut as well as the mounts. I still have to have the assemblies welded and painted and the lift handle/dog assembly has to be fabricated.
The stand will be a proprietary design in as much as the weight of the motorcycle will act on an over center fulcrum (when the bike is elevated), securely positioning the bike. The weight of the bike will firmly position the stand on any hard surface with no chance of the bike rolling off. The stand will make oil changes, tire removal and replacement (front or rear) and cleaning the underside or routine maintenance much easier and safer. The stand can also be employed to store the bike with the weight off the suspension. The engagement dog/handle assembly will be completely removable when the motorcycle is on the stand (so you don't break your ankle tripping on it) and it can be engaged from either the right or left side, depending on your preference.
The stand will be easily user adjustable for that varying widths in lug spacing as well. Additionally, the lift aid, for those who already have scissors lifts, will incorporate many of the design features in the Paddock Stand like complete adjustablilty for lug spacing as well as a firm and secure platform on to which the scissors jack leg can engage.
I've been busy......
