Another poster on this site and I have been collaborating on various designs for a Paddock Stand for the R3, R3 Classic ans R3 touring, one reason I did the poll on lug spacing.

Things are coming to fruition. The cam plates and gusset assemblies have been laser cut as well as the mounts. I still have to have the assemblies welded and painted and the lift handle/dog assembly has to be fabricated.

The stand will be a proprietary design in as much as the weight of the motorcycle will act on an over center fulcrum (when the bike is elevated), securely positioning the bike. The weight of the bike will firmly position the stand on any hard surface with no chance of the bike rolling off. The stand will make oil changes, tire removal and replacement (front or rear) and cleaning the underside or routine maintenance much easier and safer. The stand can also be employed to store the bike with the weight off the suspension. The engagement dog/handle assembly will be completely removable when the motorcycle is on the stand (so you don't break your ankle tripping on it) and it can be engaged from either the right or left side, depending on your preference.

The stand will be easily user adjustable for that varying widths in lug spacing as well. Additionally, the lift aid, for those who already have scissors lifts, will incorporate many of the design features in the Paddock Stand like complete adjustablilty for lug spacing as well as a firm and secure platform on to which the scissors jack leg can engage.

I've been busy......:)

Not yet. I'm still costing out the materials and labor involved. I have some of the parts laser cut already, others on order and others to be ordered. This is one acessory I can't make in the shop like the machined stuff I offer. This is all about outside labor ao I have to have my ducks in a row before I finalize the price.

Hopefully, right after the holidays. Most everyone is shut down next week, especially commercial suppliers and this is all steel.

I'm shooting for somewhere less than 75 bucks a unit for the full stand but that may be fantasy at this point. It's all conjecture right now.

It has to be as light as possible but it has to be torsionally strong. I'm sure that my Eueopean customers will want them as well so I building it to be cost effective for overseas shipment.

The other design will follow. It will just be an addition to the scissors jack so you can stabilize the motorcycle without lifting on the sump plate, something I don't really fancy. It will work much like the full stand but be abbreviated to adapt to the jack.

I figure that quite a few Captains already have the scissors jack and probably paid a hundred bucks for that. Why not design and market an acessory that is better than the rubber coated jack arm and better than the individual lift brackets I've seen on here. My problem with those is twofold. One, you aren't equalizing the weight over a large area and two, the tendency for them to cock sidways puts a tremendous strain in the 0,500" pins and the welds that secure them. Plus it appears to be tippy.

It's coming, Good things take time and lots of planning.

Well dont take this the wrong way but I'm way excited it for it more so than the other products (all are great designs BTW). This is one "accessory" I certainly need. Have you considered stainless? Maybe polish it so you dont have to paint it and only little rust concern. Maybe the extra cost of stainless (above and beyond steel of course) will be slightly cheaper than paint. And if your feeling froggy, you can buy a plasma cutter and make a hardened steel template and cut them yourself! (Although outsourcing this is obviously easier but more costly). I would imagine your making any hardware necessary like pins and such. Are you going to weld them yourself? Ill be watching for this paitiently. Also one hundred dollars wouldnt be too far out of reach.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Hey Mutt, where in Central NY? I grew up in Eastern NY but spent a lot of time in Utica, Oneonta, Syracuse and went to school in Oswego. :)

kindly, add me to the waiting list for the first batch of product you make available, Flip! This is a must have item.

Can't wait to see the final product and the price. This is obviously something we need. I need to change some tires before March and this would be a big help.
