It's a great idea. I use K&N air filters for the same reason, but you can buy from 11 to 45 (depending on price) regular oil filters for the price. At Triumph's recommended oil change intervals, it will take 100,000 miles minimum to pay for that oil filter. If you use less expensive oil filters, you may not live long enough for the that oil filter to pay for itself.
I beleave it will pay for itself the first time I remove it for cleaning and find telltale particles on the screen that may keep me from fragging my engine, transmission . Preventive maintenance, something that has lost it's luster in todays throw away society. Plus it looks allot better than that cheesy oil filter cover.
If I were worried about my dollar return I would not have bought the beast to start with.

You haven't been around the forum long enough or you'd know HeR3tic has one. He's had his for a few years. I have one too but not on the Rock.
If you find telltale particles...what exactly do you do anyway? Take the bike in and tell the dealer of impending doom?
The better way is to do a spectroscopic oil analysis, something I do on a regular basis with all my engines. I just got a new engine in one of my tractors...the analysis was showing elevated amounts of iron, the shop took the engine apart and found a scored oil pump and some other things that netted a new short block....no charge.
