I have the same problems with my Corbins. I like to carry stuff (I'm a chick!) and the shape is so weird .. I can tell you that I went down to the Goodwill store, picked up a very soft, flexible roll shaped type of duffle bag, its kind of ok... not the best. I know someone that actually uses a paper shopping bag from a fancy boutique that actually worked pretty well, the bag was just the right width & height and although I thought he looked a little silly, he felt they were a good function...so looks aside..
No the ground hits the pipe and bags equally :x just be thankful I sacrificed my back for my bike otherwise there would of been some damage. I set her down nice and soft
excellent writeup and I'm sure useful too.
Very good job of not only coming up with the idea, but fabing it all up so fast.
My projects never go that fast..
Congrats on a fine job.

Jeepster,
I don't have my Corbin seat anymore. I have a custom seat with no nuts and bolts
It is held in place with these suction cups and the Beetle bags secure the seat so it can't be taken off, that's why I made my Beetle bags quick releasable.
